I am back on the mainland and blogging from Seattle with South Austin in the rearview mirror. Don't worry Virgin Island fans, I will most certainly be back in the Caribbean for visits if not full-time. And I'm sure St. Thomas will creep it's way into many future posts. For now, it's all about living in the Pacific Northwest!

Premier Charter Jitters!

Though my debut charter has ended, I started this blog on day four of the seven day trip. I can still vividly recall that at day two, I needed a pedicure and had to do some major stretching in the morning before I could take the galley stairs in the single bound required to keep up with the breakfast service. The first two days were 16 hours each of learning the ins-and-outs of the boat while trying desperately to appear as though I knew what I was doing. At the end of the day, I fell into my made up cot in the wheelhouse pleasantly exhausted and lulled into a deep sleep by the slight rocking of the boat and cool Caribbean breeze only to wake up with the sun and do it all over again. Around day three, I began to hit my stride. I led our guests to the bubbly pool on Jost Van Dyke.
The short hike and enthusiasm of the guests was just what I needed to regain my cheery disposition. On the hike back to the boat, I took a moment to climb over the hill and get a glimpse of the swell feeding the bubbly pool on the North shore of the island.
It was only a few moments but they were peaceful and I could feel the rhythm and hum of the ocean which is why I am here. As I finished the hike down, I caught a pelican napping in a mangrove... awesome!
