I am back on the mainland and blogging from Seattle with South Austin in the rearview mirror. Don't worry Virgin Island fans, I will most certainly be back in the Caribbean for visits if not full-time. And I'm sure St. Thomas will creep it's way into many future posts. For now, it's all about living in the Pacific Northwest!

Charter 2 is now 1 for the books.

The guests have all long gone and another charter is done. The boat is back on it's mooring in Elephant Bay. After a few days of non-stop rain and a North swell, the seas are again calm and time passes slowly under the sun's shine. This charter was as odd as it was interesting. There were several young (fairly young) and single guys among the group. No wives or girlfriends were present. Despite our party destinations of White Bay, Foxy's on JVD, and The William Thornton at Norman Island, they were completely happy to just hang out on the boat. So much so that no one spent much time on shore (even at the Willy T) and even less time in the water. In the beginning I was trying to decide if it was refreshing not to answer the constant cacophony of questions related to the islands, our surroundings, and the itinerary of the trip or if it was annoying that they didn't care. I finally came to the conclusion that it was a beautiful thing. They didn't care where we were or where we were going... only that they were here together. On one of the rainy days (all day downpour really)... in lieu of the Willy T (I know I keep bringing it up but I will never understand this particular decision- I mean what better day than a rainy day to spend at the Willy T?... but OK) the group shared with us pre-released copies of two movies that they were all (almost all) invested in, some carrying the title of Executive Producer and one even making an appearance in the film. There is controversy regarding the first film which has delayed its release. The film is called Kill Speed and with it's special effects and super cute leads, it would be a great Sunday afternoon watch. The other movie, which was made awhile ago and is still pending release is called Junkyard Dog. For those of you like me that love a horror flick... this is for you.

Seriously disturbed serial killer or not... Innis Casey is a star! I would love to see both these pics in next years SXSW film festival. But you should all check them both out when they come to your part of town. Yeah... so that's it... nice people, nice charter, and a sneak peak at some movies I had never seen before which is a rare treat on this island. Thanks guys!
